Obituary of Catherine L. Hilland

Catherine L. "Kitty" Hilland, 84 of Kecksburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 06, 2014 with family by her side. Born August 17, 1929 in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Roy H. and Evelyn (Barkley) Ansell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Hilland, 2007, a daughter Louise Ann, 1956, great grandson Alexander Carlton Hilland Reed, 2014, a brother Clarence and sisters Bertha, Dorothy, Mary, Stella, and Thelma. She was a member of Kecksburg Church of God and keeping her love of her church by teaching Sunday school, helping with programs, cantata's, and singing in the choir. After she became homebound, the Bible Study began meeting in her home. Kitty was passionate about flower gardening and reading. She was the loving mother to Linda Hargas of Kecksburg, Janet (Ken) Tinkey of Mammoth, Charles (Hannelore) Hilland of Kecksburg, loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Stefanie Motz (Rick Redekel), Donnie (Julie) Motz, Elizabeth (Kevin) Reed, Nicole (Hridaya) Iyer and Michael Tinkey; five great grandchildren Tyler, Emily, Maya, Andy and Hunter. Also surviving are brothers Jim, Eddie, Elmer, George, Gerald Ansell, sisters Helen Freeman, Mildred Jackson, Linda Bishara, Barbara Ball, Ester Manross and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674 where her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor David C. Stickley officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg.
