Obituary of Janet A. Hawkins

Janet A. Hawkins, 74, of Norvelt, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2014 at her home. She was born October 3, 1940 in Pleasant Unity, a daughter of the late Mark and Hazel (Dunn) Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son Mark Alan. Janet was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger and formerly belonged to the Elizabeth Circle. She also belonged to the Hilltop Quilters and to her card club for over 30 years. Janet's passion and past time were knitting and crocheting. She was the loving wife of 55 years to Hugh "Dean" Hawkins; loving mother to five children Hugh (Michele) Hawkins of New Hampshire, David (Barbara) Hawkins of Latrobe, Bonnie (Tom) Lackner of Pittsburgh, Amy Hawkins of Harrison and Tyler Hawkins of Norvelt; loving grandmother to six grandchildren Stacey (Bob), David, Benjamin, Julia, Emily, Jenna and two great grandchildren Trevor and Eliana. Also surviving are siblings Meredith Richwine of Norvelt, Harry (Nina) Wilson of Acme, Bonnie (Jim) Heaton of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark A. Werner officiating. Interment to follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet's honor to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 108 Dutch Hill Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650.
