Katharine A. Jones, 95 of United, passed away Sunday, November, 2, 2014 at Mt. View Specialty Care, Unity Twp.. Born March 6, 1919 in Brinkerton, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Catharine (Miller) Sherrow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald W. Jones Sr. in 1986, a son Robert A. Jones in 1981, a son in law James M. Scekeres Sr. 2001, six brothers and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger and their Elizabeth Circle. Also a past member of Amvets Post 94 Auxiliary, United. Katharine is survived by four daughters Nancy Scekeres, Catherine "Kay" (Ronald Sr.) Knaus, Cynthia (Donald) Gobbel, Bonita (John) Polakovsky, one son Donald W. Jr. (Irene) Jones, a nephew whom she raised Edward (Judy) Weaver, sixteen grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674. Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark A. Werner officiating. Interment to follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran, 108 Dutch Hill Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650
