Obituary of George D. "Tex" Hood

George D. "Tex" Hood, 81, of West Virginia, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Saturday, November 22, 2014 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Born April 11, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, he was a son of the late Daniel and Ethel (Ulery) Hood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Catherine (Malek) Hood in 2004 and a sister Shirley Hood. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Tex was an active participant in the flea market circuit. George was an assistant at Krynicky Sunoco Station of Carpentertown for many years. He is survived by a daughter Lorena Powers and her husband Jeff of Ashburn, VA and a grandson Alex Powers. Also surviving are siblings Patricia Shugars, Virginia Yuhouse, Bill Hood, Gary Hood, Linda Farino, Bobby Hood and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 3-9 p.m. Monday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Norvelt, 15674. A Blessing Service will be 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by his mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Visitation Church with Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment to follow in Visitation Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A wake service will be 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
