Linda L. Basiorka, 64, of Acme, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at her home. Linda was born Nov 20, 1956, in Brinkerton, a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Zangla) Basiorka. She was retired from the Air Force, where she proudly served under the Carter & Reagan administrations with Air Force One and stealth aircraft development. After retirement, she lived many places throughout the United States. Growing up she enjoyed spending time with her beloved horse, Galileo, and participating in sports. She loved spending time with her horses, feline companions and dogs. Later in life she developed a fondness for gardening. She is survived by her partner and wife for more than 30 years, Deborah Richards, a brother, Thomas Zangla, a sister, Carol Basiorka (Brian) Forsyth, both of Greensburg, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by in-laws, Jean (James) Helfrich, Kay Lucic, Peggy Claycomb, Jack Richards Jr., Patti (Glen) Dionisio and Paul (Betsy) Richards; and incredibly special neighbors, Heath and Charlene Voll. The family would like to thank the healthcare workers at UPMC that diligently and professionally tended to Linda over the past few years, Siemon's Nursing and Rehab Center and those in hospice that provided end of life care to her during her last few days. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Following the pandemic guidelines, face masks must be worn and a limited number of people will be allowed in the building at one time. Military rights will be accorded by the Veterans of Armbrust Association. In lieu flowers, donations can be made to Second Chance Equine Association, 527 Stone Church Road, Hunker, PA 15639, or an animal shelter of your choice.
