Obituary of Janice Mae Shandel (Beaver )

Janice Mae Schandel (Beaver), 66, of Greensburg Pa., ended her 3 year battle with cancer courageously August 31, 2021 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her loving family. Jan was born January 21, 1955 she was the fourth child to the late John and Charlotte (Downs) Beaver. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death sister, Beverly Albright, brother and sister in law; Frank Ewing and Linda Beaver. Janice is survived by two sons Timothy (Neva Rebeca) Schandel, William (Andrea) O'Neal sister, Emma J. (Beaver) Ewing, brother; Willam R. Beaver, grandchildren; Tara, Jacklynn, Wesley Schandel, Macy O' Neal, father and mother in law Tim (Nettie) Guskiewicz, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, countless respected coworkers and lifetime friends. Jan was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and registered nurse. She began her nursing career at Monsour Hospital, in 1976 and continued to care and serve her patients in many capacities for over 45 years. Jan continued her education throughout her career and was proud to have earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from California University of Pennsylvania. Jan's love if education was always evident in her passionate approach to mentoring and inspiring fellow heath care professionals throughout her career. Jan's most important interest In life after her family and the care of others, was her beloved Pittsburgh Pirates...God bless her. Family and friends are welcome in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt Saturday September 4, from 1-3PM and 5-7PM. Jan's Memorial Service, Sunday September 5, in the funeral home. Jan's family would like to send a special thank you to the staff and especially the nurses of UPMC Shadyside Hospital for their tender and amazing care of Jan in her final days. They made her last day's peaceful and respectful for both Jane and her family .
