Mary Ann Yuhas, 82, of Norvelt-D Section, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. Born Nov. 25, 1939, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Hudak) Kalp. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 61 years (Sept. 10, 1960), Joe Yuhas. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Joy (Jim) Smith and their son, Jimmy. Mary Ann attended St.Benedict Catholic School, and in 1951, she moved to Norvelt, where she attended St Florian Catholic School and then graduated from Hurst High School. Mary Ann pursued her career with Westinghouse Semi- Conductor for 20 years and was also a member of their Choral group. She was a Mt. Pleasant Township auditor for 12 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Florian Catholic Church. She was a active volunteer in the church some of her activities include, festival chair person, choir member, PTG treasurer, Eucharistic Minister fundraisers, and initiated the Kolache nut roll for over 20 years. She was an avid golfer, and a member of two golf leagues, in Norvelt and Donegal. Mary Ann was a big sports fan. She loved the Pirates, Steelers, Notre Dame and she enjoyed going to South Bend stadium to watch football games. She enjoyed going on bus trips all over the United States and spending time at the casinos. She was a member a former of Amvets Auxiliary in United and Calumet Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Ann loved volunteering. She helped the Lions Club at the food stands at Westmoreland County Fairgrounds and the pancake breakfasts. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Transfer prayers will be 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, in the funeral home. Vigil prayers will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mary Ann's Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Florian Church, United, with the Rev. John A. Sedlak Celebrant. Internment to follow at St. Florian Cemetery, Trauger. The Norvelt Lions Club will be holding a service at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family would prefer everybody to wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, contributions may go to St. Florian Catholic Church, 4263 Route 981, United, PA 15689.
