Bernard "Butch" E. Stairs, 87, of Hunker, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Hunker to the late Russell P. Stairs Sr. and Sarah J. (McLean) Stairs. Butch was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired cabinet maker for Peterson's Custom Kitchens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a three siblings, Russell P. Stairs Jr., Catherine "Kitty" Wolk and James William Stairs. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME,2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, where a funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at 11 a.m., with the Pastor David L. Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery, Stahlstown, PA.
