Daniel L. Szolek, 78, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born April 3, 1945, a son of the late John W. and Cecelia (Miskinis) Szolek. Dan was a graduate of Scottdale High School class of 1963, he enjoyed golfing, being an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and working for the Scottdale VFW for over 25 years. After 40 years of serving with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Dan retired honorably in 2005. Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years Darleene (Skemp) Szolek of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, John D. Szolek and his wife Jennifer of Poland, OH, and Jeffrey S. Szolek and his wife Stephanie of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Zackery, Kenzie, and Kelly Szolek; and a sister, Marla Siwula. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer L. Szolek. In lieu of flowers, please keep the family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Family and Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674.
