William Franklin "Bill" Miller Jr., age 89 of Greensburg died at home on August 15, 2023. Bill was born December 6, 1933, son of the late William Franklin Miller Sr. and Edna Hughes Miller. Bill grew up in Norvelt, C Section; graduated from Hurst High School, class of 1951; was employed as a mould maker for the glass industry at Overmyer Mould Co. for 24 years, then eleven years at Ross Mould Co. in Washington, PA. Bill was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Latrobe, PA, actively participating in many facets of church life – property and the grounds committee, church council, stewardship committee, youth leader, lifetime Sunday School member, and was an active volunteer whenever needed. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. Beginning in the 1970’s, nearly every year, he spent the first few days of deer season at Seldom Inn Hunting Camp and Leeper, PA. He loved spending time there with sons, cousins, and friends. Following his retirement in 1994, he and his wife Myrna spent time traveling and spending time with the grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife, Myrna (Crosby) Miller. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in April 2023. Bill was humbly proud of his children and grandchildren and often expressed his thanks to God for the blessings of family. Bill is survived by his daughter Laurie (Ken Sanders), Montreal, Canada; son Gregory (Samantha), Wexford, PA; son Kurt (Mary), Woodstock, GA, and son Brad (Joan), Latrobe, PA. He was “Pappy” to surviving grandchildren; Marina, Michael (Eirwen), Drew (Emily), Matthew, Lucy, Erik (Sara), Cameron (Lindsey), Jaclyn (Colten), Brandon and Kayla and Kaiman Fretz; and to great grandchildren; Henry, Harrison, Theodore, Maggie, Finley and Josie. He is also survived by sister-in-law Dorla Miller of Mt. Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne, Clair, Logan, and Arthur and sisters-in-law Susan and Vicki Miller. Family and Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674. Bill’s funeral service will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Samuel Scheiderer officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger.
