Obituary of George Edward Kelly

George Edward Kelly, lover of beaches, lighthouses and “goin’ for a ride,” passed away November 29, 2023 at age 89. The beloved husband of Patricia (Pavick) Kelly was born in Greensburg, PA on August 1st, 1934 to Eli and Mary (Sapola) Kelly. George is survived by his loving family David and Cindy Kelly and their children Tricia and Michael; Mary Beth and Jake Millward and their children Margaret and husband Matthew Mandella, Grace, Kristina, Destiny and Katelyn; Kristi and Michael Tylman and their children Tyler, Ashlyn and Landon; and Heather Keffer and fiance Dennis Povanda and her children Joseph, Eli and Jesse; as well as devoted extended family. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters Isabel Swift, Helen Altman, and Mary Agnes Nelson. George was a member of the Norvelt Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years. Visitors will be received at Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674 on Wednesday, December 6th from 4-7pm. Norvelt VFD Station No. 37 will hold their service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, December 7th at 10am at St. Florian Catholic Church, United, PA with Fr. John Sedlak as celebrant. Everyone should go directly to the church.
