Obituary of Cecelia C. Miscovich

Cecelia C. Miscovich, 97, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Jeannette. Cecelia helped as the longtime secretary and office manager of Miscovich Asphalt & Paving. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard J. Miscovich; her parents, Karol and Marcyanna (Lipski) Zlotkowski; her brother, Stanley; and her sisters, Elizabeth Harney, Sabina, Frances and Felecia Zlotkowski, Anna Menart, Bertha Grabowski and Regina Zawada. Cecelia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Leonard J. Miscovich Jr., Colleen Miscovich and Mark Miscovich. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Zdzislaw (Jerry) Zawada, and cherished godchildren, Marcyann Rizzardi and Frederick Zawada. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME in Norvelt, Mt. Pleasant Township. A vigil prayer will be offered at 7:45 p.m. during the visitation. Transfer prayers will take place at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Church, officiated by Father John Sedlak. Cecelia will be laid to rest at St. Florian Cemetery. In addition to her dedication to her work and family, Cecelia had a deep love for animals. She adored her two dogs, Buttons and Francis, her cat, Baby Girl, and a number of parakeets. She also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Maryann Ciaston's dog, Jet. Cecelia was deeply saddened by the passing of her son's dog, Daisy, and she will be missed by her son's dog, Hemi. She took great pride in her Polish heritage and enjoyed polka dancing with her beloved husband. Above all, Cecelia was a devout Catholic who found great solace and strength in her faith. Her unwavering devotion to God was a guiding light throughout her life. Cecelia will be remembered as a loving mother and a faithful servant of God. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. The family would like to give special thanks to Father John Sedlak for his care and compassion, to her caregiver prior to moving to Redstone, Ethel, and to the nursing staff at Redstone Highlands and the staff of the second floor cardiac respiratory unit at Westmoreland Hospital.
