Please share a memory of Agnes to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Agnes Earlene Kochis, also known as Aggie, peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the age of 77 in her home in Latrobe. Aggie was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Greensburg. Throughout her life, Aggie faced numerous health challenges, including a head injury that led to disability retirement and strokes that left her paralyzed on the right side and confined to a wheelchair. Despite these adversities, Aggie demonstrated remarkable resilience and drew strength from the unwavering support of her late husband, Paul; and later her devoted daughter, Sherri, who lovingly cared for her until her final moments. Aggie was a woman of great determination who pursued education later in life. She obtained her GED and went on to attend W.C.C.C, graduating in the food service management Class of 1992. She then embarked on a fulfilling career at Hempfield Area School District Food Service! Aggie was Catholic by faith. She found solace and a source of strength throughout her journey. Aggie leaves behind her two daughters, Paula (Jeffery) Seftas and Sherri Torrance (Bernard Jr.) Hixson. Aggie held a special place in her heart for her beloved grandchildren, Jason K. (Lauren) Torrance, Julie K. (Benjamin)Hafer, Titus (TJ) Seftas, Autumn Seftas and Mason Seftas. Aggie's joy was amplified by the presence of her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Faith and Brantley Aaron, who brought immense light and happiness to her life. Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Kochis; daughter, Carrie Ann Vinski; in-laws, Paul and Edith Kochis; brothers-in-law, Ronald and Greg Kochis; mother, Naomi Kunkle; and father, William (Mary) Pearce. Aggie is also survived by her brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Gail Tucholski, of Florida; sister-in-law, Elaine (Joseph) Zedek; sister-in-law, Rose Kochis and Cynthia DeCarlo. She was blessed with nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who held a special place in her heart. Aggie found solace and companionship in the presence of her loyal furry companion, Naila, as well as her loving grand-furbabies, Nika, Zoey, and Issabella Sky, who brought laughter and love into her life. Special thanks to Tonya Jordon, who had a tremendous bond with her "Baby Girl," Becky and the hospice team at Care Comfort in Murrysville. We will forever be grateful. In her leisure time, Aggie found joy in various hobbies, including spending time on her computer, sewing, knitting, and creating wedding flowers. She also enjoyed hunting, boating, and spending time at camp! Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and honor Aggie's life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home), located at 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, where funeral services will be held Wednesday in the funeral home at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Aggie's memory to the Heart/Stroke Association or local animal shelters, as these causes held a special place in her heart. During this difficult time, we extend our deepest condolences to Aggie's family and friends. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
